Driver domination on the TOCA support bill at Donington Park GP

Single driver domination was a big theme on the TOCA support bill at Donington Park GP this past weekend (August 22-23) as a quartet of championships took centre stage alongside the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

With the 2026 season entering a critical junction, every point proved to be crucial around the Grand Prix layout of the Leicestershire venue as contenders and challengers staked their claim for points and prizes.

Callum Voisin proved to perfection personified in the Porsche Carwow Carrera Cup Great Britain as he topped the times in both qualifying sessions, before then going on to secure a brace of lights-to-flag victories.

Going into the weekend as the driver to best, the Porsche GB Junior driver duly maintained his front-running form as he led the way in every session across Saturday and Sunday.

Behind him, title rival Will Jenkins and Jack Sherwood finished second and third respectively in race one before Jenkins got the better of Isaac Phelps to bag more silverware in race two.

The Motul Caterham Seven Championship UK made the first of its two scheduled appearances on the BTCC bill this year and it didn’t disappoint as it served up a trio of tantalising encounters.

While this year’s battle between multiple Caterham title winner Taylor O’Flanagan, reigning champion Matthew Armstrong and last year’s runner-up Harry Senior rightfully has had everyone captivated, it was Aaron Head that proved to be the star of the show under the flight path of East Midlands airport.

Setting his stall out from the get-go that he was going to be the one to beat, Head marched his way to the top step of the podium in all three races; and he was joined on the rostrum by the likes of Charlie Lower, Stephen Lyall and Armstrong.

Rhys Hurd was another driver to enjoy a flawless weekend as he swept his way to all three wins in the Mairon Motorsport MINI CHALLENGE Trophy.

Very much competing on a weekend-by-weekend basis due to budget constraints, the Westbourne Motorsport driver underlined why he is so highly rated by overcoming a raft of leading lights in each contest to ultimately tally three wins on the bounce.

While Hurd soaked up the adulation of winning, the title fight in the coveted one-make series more than intensified as reigning champion Alex Keens and Matt Luff are now covered by just eight points at the top of the standings.

Rounding off the weekend’s action - and as the only category to feature more than one different winner - was the Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA.

The UK's premier single-seater series had fans on the edge of their seats and it was Xcel Motorsport's Jaber Alsabah that struck first as he scored a flawless victory in race one.

Red Bull Junior driver Scott Kin Lindblom then became the 12th different winner of the season as he cruised to victory in a frenetic reverse grid encounter. That was before George Proudford-Nalder reigned supreme in a truncated feature race finale to clinch his second win of the term.
