The Pickup Truck Racing Championship was created by Sonny and Barbara Howard and launched in 1997, bringing a flavour of American pickup truck racing to British circuits. Built around the principles developed through their SHP Motorsport business, the championship quickly established itself as one of the UK's most distinctive racing categories.
Over the years, the Pickups have raced at circuits across the UK and Europe, as well as on oval layouts, building a reputation for close, hard-fought competition. In 2018, the championship celebrated its 500th race, underlining its longevity and popularity with both drivers and spectators.
