History
The Classic Touring Car Racing Club (CTCRC) was founded in 1974 by a group of amateur racing drivers led by Peter Deffee, with the aim of providing affordable racing for the popular saloon cars of the 1950s and early 1960s. While sports cars from manufacturers such as MG, Triumph and Jaguar were already well represented in historic motorsport, the Club created a home for everyday saloons such as the Austin A35 and Morris Minor.
More than 50 years later, the CTCRC has evolved considerably while remaining true to those original principles. Its championships celebrate different eras of British saloon and touring car racing, with cars grouped by period and further divided into classes according to engine capacity. Stability remains at the heart of the regulations, helping to encourage close, competitive racing and giving drivers the confidence to return season after season.
